Acer palmatum 'Sango kaku', also known as Coral Bark Maple or Senkaki is one of the most invaluable and vibrant of small trees for winter effect. Small palmate, pale green leaves appear in the spring with a strong, red tinge which fades as the tree matures. As summer approaches, the foliage becomes a lighter shade of green followed by yellow-golden tones in the autumn. Bright coral-red stems emerge in the winter which looks especially striking in the snow. The name 'Sango kaku' translates to 'Coral Tower'.
This specimen is grown in standard form, grafted to an approximately 60cm stem.
